Tildipirosin is a 16-membered macrolide used as an antibiotic in veterinary medicine. Like other macrolides, it inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria and blocks the production of biofilms.1,2 Tildipirosin is particularly effective against Gram-negative pathogens. It is commonly used against respiratory infections in swine and cattle
Pigs: Treatment and metaphylaxis of swine respiratory disease (SRD) associated with Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Bordetella bronchiseptica and Haemophilus parasuis sensitive to tildipirosin.
Cattle: For the treatment and prevention of bovine respiratory disease (BRD) associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Histophilus somni sensitive to tildipirosin. The presence of the disease in the herd should be confirmed before preventive treatment.
